One Parent Scholar House Child Development Center
One Parent Scholar House Child Development Center accepts children from six weeks to five years old. The Center’s hours are 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. However, if a resident has a late class or works late, the Center can accommodate those children until 5:30 p.m. It is your responsibility to find someone to pick up your child by 5:30 p.m. Please inform the Child Development Manager of such scheduling conflicts.
Residents’ children must be enrolled in the One Parent Scholar House Child Development Center until kindergarten and must attend regularly. Residents are encouraged to take an interest in the childcare program by visiting their children in the Center, asking questions, participating in classroom meetings and activities and attending parent/teacher conferences.
The One Parent Scholar House Child Development Center is a 3-Star developmental curriculum based program under the guidance of competent, loving teachers.
The Child Development Center is also in partnership with Early Head Start and Head Start. The program is set up for the child’s interest and to provide what young children need to learn and grow. As young children learn through play, our curriculum models are based on learning centers and interactive play. This means:
• Messy activities – dress your child so they can get dirty.
• Going outside every day
• No child will be excluded from activities that the rest of the class is doing.
Children will be challenged, but not pushed, to do skills they do not currently have the readiness or maturity to handle.
If you would like more information before making a decision about whether One Parent Scholar House Child Development Center is the right place for your child, talk with our Child Development Manager and ask to review the One Parent Scholar House Child Care Handbook.
